AlphaDial

After purchasing a new cellphone and reading a few complaints about the lack of one specific feature I decided to put together a very small utility. This is mostly aimed at the Samsung BlackJack but should work with pretty much any Windows SmartPhone.

Since the BlackJack as a real QWERTY keyboard there is no way to enter a phone number that you see in advertisements. Such as, 1-800-555-DIAL.

AlphaDial is a very small utiltiy that will allow you to enter those phone numbers. It will convert the letters into numbers and dial it for you.

Update: AlphaDial has been changed to allow international dialing. You can now dial a + in your phone number. Example: +1-800-FLOWERS.

Installation

Unzip the program and copy it to someplace on your phone or micro-sd card using ActiveSync. Then just create a shortcut to the program and copy it to your /Windows/Start Menu folder. Do this by right clicking the program file and click "Create Shortcut". Place that shortcut where ever you want it within your start menu folder.

The first time you run it you will get a notification about it being from an unknown publisher. Just click ok to bypass that and you won't see that screen anymore.
